Artist's Description

Commemorating the historic Fort Sumter in the Charleston harbor of South Carolina. On April 12, 1861, the first shots of the American Civil War were fired by the Confederate artillery toward the Union garrison within the fort. The fort is now a national park has flown six different flags that represent its history. These include the 33-star U.S. flag, 35-star U.S. flag, South Carolina flag, Stars & Bars, the Stainless Banner and the current 50-star U.S. flag which are represented in this illustration.

Joe Barsin

Joe Barsin's design and Illustration work has been recognized in prestigious annual award competitions including "Print" magazine, "Communication Arts", "Graphic Design: USA", "American Institute of Graphic Artists". His illustrations have been showcased in three editions of the Adobe Illustrator Bible and he has given lectures on computer graphic Illustration. In 2004, Joe illustrated Maryland's Bay Plate, the state car license plate that "Treasure the Chesapeake". Joe is originally from Akron, Ohio, and grew up loving art. He was fortunate to have traveled extensively with his family while a child and experienced art and culture all throughout Europe.
